12 Pillars of Success

PILLAR Project
 Highlights
PILLAR Project
Pillar Project is the complete revitalization of the Liberty Union-Thurston School District's athletic facilities. Facilities will be moved from the current location at the high school to the available district owned space on SR 158 South of Baltimore. Existing facilities at the high school will be maintained as practice facilities.

The project is projected to require 6.5 million dollars to complete and will be spread out over a 9 year period. The PILLAR Project team welcomes members of the community to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity to leave a lasting legacy to our community and school. As with any legacy, it starts with a dream and evolves into reality through efforts of many individuals working hard at the coveted task to see it into fruition.

PILLAR stands for Pride In Lions Long-term Athletic facility Revitalization. It will embody the 12 pillars of success to show the strong relationship between athletics and academics and how that combination leads to great citizenship and develops the leaders of the future. These 12 pillars are listed to the left.

Rough plans are available and can be found under the tab Project Scope. Facilities included in this project are outlined to the left. We have hired the firms of Pizzutti Solutions and the Edge Group to facilitate the project and provide professional services where needed.

Included in this project is a new all-weather playing surface for football and soccer. A new stadium will highlight a 5000 seat complex with locker room facilities under the home seating. There will be an eight lane track around the football field. This facility will enable us to hold statewide level events for football, track, soccer and band competitions. Additionally there will be two state of the art baseball and softball fields build in a cloverleaf fashion along with locker rooms and hitting facilities. These facilities will also be state competition level complexes. Six tennis courts will add a new dimension to LU-T athletics and two practice fields will also be developed to facilitate junior high practices. There will be a common concession/restroom area for all facilities and the complex will encompass ample parking considerations. PILLAR Plaza will be the centerpiece of the project and will house athletic and academic hall of fames as well a common meeting area and focal point of the project.

Now it is time to begin the work of raising the money to build this project and developing the final plans for the facilities. We are searching for those special individuals that want to help champion this project and see it become reality. We are looking for team members that will embody these pillar traits and help lead this rather massive project. Currently we need a few individuals to step up and be champions in the areas of finances, marketing and buildings. If you are interested in becoming a member of one of these teams, please send us an email at golions@pillarproject.com and we will get back with you to discuss the opportunities.
